Farrell Rose was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. As a child, seeing E.T. The Extraterrestial and the original Star Wars trilogy ignited a passion for cinematic storytelling as he grew up in Oakland, California. After moving to Orlando, Florida as a teenager, his cinematic tastes expanded to the indie realm, afforded to him by his job at Blockbuster Video and his access to their massive video library. In 2000 he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his lifelong dream of filmmaking, and attended The Los Angeles Film School. He befriended several classmates who he continues to collaborate with to this day. Among them Peter Stier Jr. and Steven Ellison (aka Flying Lotus). After making several shorts and writing screenplays without much success, he moved to Austin, Texas to take advantage of the burgeoning film scene. There he quickly befriended and collaborated with members of Paper Street Pictures; Aaron B. Koontz, Cameron Burns and Alex Euting, on an original screenplay he pitched them entitled Dream Machine. In 2015, he wrote and directed his first feature film entitled Modern Society.
