Joe Whyte began his professional acting career in 1982 after attending California State University-Northridge, as a Theater student. He began performing with an improv comedy sketch group called The Left Fielders, comprised of a group of friends from CSUN. This led to a lifelong love of improv comedy, and he went on to perform with Comedysportz Los Angeles, the highly acclaimed musical/comedy improv group The Impromptones and, in 2000, the music/comedy group The Newtonics with Jeff Bryan Davis (Whose Line Is It Anyway? (1998)), all based out of Hollywood, California. During the 1980s and 1990s Whyte also appeared in numerous plays and musicals in and around the Los Angeles area, along with appearances in several TV sitcoms and soap operas, most notably The Drew Carey Show (1995), Sports Night (1998), General Hospital (1963), Miss Match (2003) ands Rodney (2004). He has also performed as a voice-over actor for many animated features and video games, most notably the role of Chris Redfield in the highly successful video game series remake, Resident Evil / Biohazard, a remake of the original Resident Evil game. He began his voice-over career while working as a production assistant on Hercules (1997) at Walt Disney Animation Studios. He began by performing as a "scratch" actor--one who provides temporary character voice-over for a film so that the director and producers can work out sequences and timing, with that voice track eventually replaced by the actual actor hired for the part. This provided excellent training for Joe and he eventually landed a voice-over agent and began working regularly in the voice-over field, providing voice for films, TV shows, and video games. Joe is also a digital artist, working as a 3D modeler for Walt Disney Animation Studios, and has modeled on Disney's Tarzan (1999), Treasure Planet (2002), Home on the Range (2004), Chicken Little (2005), Meet the Robinsons (2007), and as of this writing is a Senior Modeler on Bolt (2008).
