Tanya Young is a Creek American actress and writer who has appeared in Chuck Lorre's "Mom", "The Bold & The Beautiful," Ridley Scott's "Strange Angel, " Mike Mills' 20th Century Women and John Singleton's "Snowfall." Born in Chicago and raised in Arkansas and New York City, Tanya studied acting at Columbia University, UCB and The Second City. With a long-time focus on comedy, Tanya has worked on television series starring Chris Rock, Bill Cosby, Bill Maher, JB Smoove and Kevin Hart. For her comedy writing, she has received a 2001 Peabody Award and a 2002 National Literacy Award. She was a 2010 Comedy Fellow with Writers Boot Camp and 2013 WGA Apprentice Writer at BET/MTV Networks. Collaborating with Director Justice Singleton, Tanya wrote the short film "Power of Love" which was an Official Selection in the 2018 New Media Film Festival. Tanya's recent acting and writing work has expanded into theater, staged readings, motion capture, VR/ AR and multiplayer gaming. In 2009, Tanya was Story Producer on HBO's competition docu-series "Brave New Voices" about diverse young slam poets, focusing her storycraft the spoken word team from the Santa Fe Indian School and indigenous poets from Honolulu. A former collaborator with the American Indian Community House, Tanya worked with Member Diana Gubiseh-Ayala to direct a documentary about fellow Native American and "two-spirit" women living with HIV/AIDS. A member of the Native American Casting Group and Board Member of the HIV Writers Workshop at Cedars-Sinai, Tanya works out as part of an LGBT writing and performing ensemble.
