She grew up in Colonial Heights, VA and graduated from Colonial Heights High School where she had been a cheerleader for four years, fraternity sweetheart, president of the Girls' Monogram Club and Homecoming Princess. She attended Longwood College in Farmville, VA and graduated from J. Sargeant Reynolds College in Richmond, VA in June, 1977. While living in Richmond, she starred in extensive television and print advertisements for 'Discover Downtown Richmond'. The day after she graduated from college, she moved to Los Angeles and three months later, in September 1977, began work on the daytime television series, Days of Our Lives (1965). Her feature film debut was in Rollercoaster (1977) which she filmed on location in Richmond, VA while in her final year of college.
