He graduated Yerevan Teaching Seminary in 1917. Before joining the Armenian Theatre of Tiflis (Tbilisi) in 1923 he performed in theatrical troupes Zarifyan-Abelyan, Armenyan, Kharazyan. From 1924 to his death he was one of the leading actors of Sundukyan Drama Theatre in Yerevan. His most famous role in cinema was Grigor-agha from The Cliff (1975).
