Sergio Goldenberg is a brazilian scripwriter and director. He studied cinema at Universidade Federal Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro and work as a scriptwriter for TV Globo since 1995. As independent producer and director he made Volta Redonda - Strike Memorial, The Girls From Rio, No Rubber, No Way!, Occupation: Housemaid, Rio Funk, Chocolate Makers. Volta Redonda was screened at INPUT 90 in Canada and won the prize of best documentary at The World Television Festival in Japan. The Girls From Rio was screened at INPUT 91 in Ireland and won the prize of best TV programme in the Jornada de Cinema da Bahia 92. It was broadcasted in TV Cultura Brazil, PBS-USA, SVT 2 Sweden, Learning Channel, NRK Norway. No Rubber, No Way! was funded by the Pan American Health Organization; it has been shown at INPUT 93 in England and in the Video Visions of the New York Film Festival; it won the prize 'Sol the Prata' in Rio Cine Festival and a Special Award in VideoFest 93 German. It has been broadcasted in RTBF Belgium, Vision Canada, Canal + France , Denmark TV , SVT 1 Sweden, TSR Switzerland. Housemaids, funded by ZDF German, was transmitted in ARTE, Radio Quebec Canada, TV Europe 5 and TV Cultura Brazil. It won a prize of best documentary in Nord-Sud Festival 1994 Geneve and was selected for The Margarite Meeds Festival. Funk Rio, a co-production with Canal +, was transmitted in France, in Channel 4 England, in TV Bandeirantes and TV Cultura Brazil. It won the prize of best documentary at Rio Cine Festival 1995 and has been presented in the Sheffield International Documentary Festival 1995. Chocolate Makers, co-produced with ARTE and TVE, was transmittted in Europe in France and German in 1997 and in TV Cultura Brasil. For commercial TV in Brazil, he made 20 programmes for the series Documento Especial and worked as a scriptwriter for the programme Brasil Legal, a TV Globo's monthly show and Muvuca, a TV Globo's weekly show. He was also the director in charge of Teen Video Stories in Mozambique, a series of programmes made with adolescents in 6 different countries, produced by Canadian CIFEJ. He made his debut as a feature-length film director with Bendito Fruto, starring Otávio Augusto, Zezeh Barbosa, Vera Holtz, Lúcia Alves, Evandro Machado, Camila Pitanga, and Eduardo Moscovis. His most recent works for TV Globo as a screenwriter are the miniseries "O Canto da Sereia" (2013), "Amores Roubados" (2014) and the remake of the soap opera "O Rebu" (2014), in partnership with George Moura. He is the author, also in partnership with George Moura, of the series of TV Globo "Onde Nascem os Fortes" (2018) and the series "Onde Está Meu Coração" (2020), for Globoplay.
