Jeff Gottesfeld writes for the page, screen, and stage. Raised in Teaneck NJ, he is the author of the New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of 2016, THE TREE IN THE COURTYARD (Knopf, 2016), illustrated by Peter McCarty. It has been translated into Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, French, Portuguese, and German. Prior to moving into children's books, he wrote middle grade and teen fiction.. There, he is best known as being half of the Zoey Dean pseudonym for Little, Brown and Time Warner books, writing the first ten THE A-LIST bestsellers and HOW TO TEACH FILTHY RICH GIRLS. For television, he has written for SMALLVILLE, PORT CHARLES, THE GUIDING LIGHT, AS THE WORLD TURNS, and THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. He is an Emmy nominee and a WGA award winner. For film, he co-wrote BROKEN BRIDGES (Paramount, 2006). For the stage, he won the 2017 Distinguished Play Award from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, for THE WORLD'S STRONGEST LIBRARIAN (Dramatic Publishing, 2016). He was educated at Colby College (B.A.), the University of Arizona, and the University of San Francisco (J.D.). He lives in Los Angeles, CA.
