Roberto Kawata was born in Tokyo, Japan, the son of Iginio, an American soldier, and Shizuko, his Japanese mother. Roberto attended several Department of Defense schools on Air Force bases from Japan to the United States (Texas, New Mexico, Maine) as well as England. He took acting classes with various teachers in the Los Angeles area. Roberto also studied music arranging and composition at the University of California, Los Angeles and the Grove School of Music.
