Shea E. Butler

Shea E. Butler is an award-winning filmmaker for her short films, "The Trial of Ben Barry" starring Richard Roundtree and Lawrence Gilliard, Jr., "The Waystation," "Finding Home" and the seven-episode web series, "Trouble Creek" starring Jason Gedrick and Debrah Farentino. She also directed a segment of the independent feature film "Brad's Untitled Restaurant Project" which has been released on Vimeo VOD, and three monologues of the award-winning play, "The Vagina Monologues," for charity in Los Angeles. Shea has just completed writing the coming of age, indie feature script, "Dare," to direct. She is an alumna of both Ryan Murphy's Half Foundation Directing Fellowship and the Warner Bros. Television Director's Workshop. She has been a shadowing director on "NCIS: Los Angeles" (Director Diana Valentine), "Scream Queens" (Director Barbara Brown), and "NCIS" (Director Arvin Brown.) Shea has spoken on several panels at film festivals in the United States, was interviewed for an upcoming documentary on female filmmakers ("The Second Sex and the Seventh Art") and was a guest on the Intuitive Filmmaker Podcast. Shea is the author of a children's book, "Finding Home: The Adventures of Abo, The Wild African Puppy," which is the cornerstone of her short film, "Finding Home." She has sold several short stories and is the co-creator of the comic book "Undercover Cockroach" which is published on Amazon. She has been a development executive and segment producer for reality TV and a script supervisor for television and film. Shea divides her time between Vancouver, B.C. and Los Angeles, California. She has a BA in Literature and an MA in TV & Film, and is a member of the Writers Guild, IATSE 871, Alliance of Women Directors, the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences (Director's Peer Group), Women In Media, Mystery Writers of America and Sisters In Crime. She is a certified scuba diver and avid horsewoman and was on a team that won a U.S. National 5 Goal Arena Polo Championship. Born in Cairo, Egypt to American parents living abroad, Shea has traveled extensively throughout the world, her most recent trip being a horseback riding safari through the Okavango Delta in Botswana.
