Director Joel Juarez Sanchez's grandfather opened the first Chinese restaurant in Acapulco, Mexico. At school, Joel was the only one who ate lunch with chopsticks. One day, at the local bull fights, his grandfather predicted that if he didn't behave the bull would grow red wings and fly him up to the sky. Joel directed the DGA award winning dark comedy Pelea de Gallos about a man's search for a prize winning rooster and SinAzul. More award winning films followed including his feature film debut, Generation Last, a global warming thriller and Showtime's beautiful documentary Eating Insects, about Mexico's ancestral culinary traditions. He has also directed narrative pilots Unsentenced, Daddy Ball, Night Work, and Slaves. Joel is all about a stylized storytelling and has commercial work for Nike, Black Earth, and Budlight.
