Richard S. Oliver is a writer and producer, originally from New York City. He studied film making at the School of Visual Arts from 1992-96' and received a degree in English and Secondary Education from Queens College in 2007. Richard spent his teen aged years in the late 80's and early 90's on NYC's Lower East Side where he was in numerous hard core punk rock bands and edited a few fanzines from that era. After studying film in the mid-90's, Richard went on to act in the short film, 'jimmy walks away', which was screened at the 1997 Sundance film festival. He acted in a few more low budget to no budget student and Indy fare and worked in TV production, (including 'judge mills lane' and 'Judge Judy') from the late 90's until the early 00's. Richard continued to work on screenplays and a one man show with his writing partner, Rich Devaney, to little success in the early 00's. Devaney would go on to direct the independent film, 'Brooklyn Bound' in 2005, while Oliver went on to work on The Learning Channel's acclaimed reality show, 'A Baby Story', from 03' til 04'. Oliver went back to school in 05' to study English and spent from 07' til 11' as a NYC public school English teacher. However, the urge to write would not leave him and he came out to Los Angeles, this time to live, and pursue the creation of film and TV projects, again working with his writing partner, Rich Devaney. By day, Oliver works in securing financing for Def-con One Productions, for their slate of films, including the long awaited, 'Charlie Lucky Luciano', written by Oscar winner, Bobby Moresco. Oliver lives in Los Angeles, with his girlfriend, Brandye, Head Baker at Susie Cakes in Brentwood, with their cat, Baby Cakes.
