Darlene was born in the Gold Rush town of San Andreas, California. She has spent over thirty years as a network television executive in Los Angeles. During her career she's been responsible for the content of network programming including Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, Living Single, America's Most Wanted, Malcolm In The Middle, Nip/Tuck, The Shield, Rescue Me, The Price Is Right, and hundreds of other shows and specials. Darlene is an active member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, serving as Governor of Daytime Programming from 1993-1995 and 1999-2001, and chairman of the Daytime Emmy Awards Committee from 2000-2005. In 1994 she co-founded TV CARES, the AIDS service and community outreach committee of the Television Academy. In 2003, Darlene moved from Executive Director of Broadcast Standards at 20th Century Fox Broadcasting to Vice President at Fox Cable Networks in Los Angeles. In 1999 Darlene became a five-time Jeopardy champion. She is a member of Mensa, a gourmet cook, a self described 'computer geek', an ultralight aircraft pilot and a classically-trained pianist. Darlene holds a B.A. in Motion Pictures and Television from UCLA, an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University and received her PhD in Communications in 2002.
