Priscilla Brasil is an Amazonian filmmaker and executive producer born in Belém do Pará, 1978. She holds a diverse academic background with a degree in architecture, business, and communication, and is a PhD candidate in Post-colonialism and Global Citizenship at the University of Coimbra in Portugal. Priscilla's career as a filmmaker began with her first film "As Filhas da Chiquita," a feature documentary released in 2006, which was commercially distributed in Brazil and screened in over 30 countries worldwide. Her subsequent works, including "Serra Pelada - Esperança não é sonho" and "Terra de Negro," both earned critical acclaim and awards. In 2010, Priscilla shifted her focus to music projects, producing and directing music videos for numerous Brazilian bands and artists, including Curumin, Macaco Bong, Daniel Peixoto, Madame Saatan, Lia Sophia, and Gaby Amarantos. She was also the executive producer of "Brega S/A", a documentary about Tecnobrega. Priscilla's work with Gaby Amarantos led to the creation of two musical-documentaries, "Gaby, Live in Jurunas" and "Gaby ao vivo no Circo Voador," as well as the planning and execution of business and career strategies. These efforts helped Gaby win the coveted Artist of the Year award from Brazilian MTV, as well as a Latin Grammy nomination and other prestigious accolades. In recent years, Priscilla has shifted her focus back to documentary filmmaking. She served as executive producer and director of "100 anos de payxão," a documentary film about one of Brazil's most traditional soccer teams, and "Amazonia Ocupada," a series of 13 films about the occupation of the Amazon region during the 20th century. Priscilla's most recent work includes the documentary "Into the Void of Air" (2022) a film about Amazonian pilots. She is currently working on a film about the Brazilian community in Florida, USA, slated for release in 2023/2.
