Actor Egons Maisaks was born on 28 April, 1948 in Riga, Latvia, in a worker's family. He graduated 45th Riga Secondary School in 1966 and Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music in 1973 where he was studying puppetry. From 1973 to 1976 he worked in the State Puppet Theatre and the State Academic Drama Theatre.
