Dathaí Keane is a director and writer from Ireland. He began his career as an editor and worked for over a decade cutting projects for both TV and film. His first projects as writer and director were documentaries and he has written and directed a number of award-winning documentary series for Irish television. Two of his drama-documentary series have been sold internationally - The Irish Mob (Netflix) and Easter 1916 (Amazon Prime). In 2015, he created and directed a Western Drama series called An Klondike that ran for two seasons on Irish national television. The series has been distributed internationally and is available on Netflix under the title Dominion Creek. Dathaí was awarded the IFTA for Best Director Drama at the 2017 Irish and Film Television Awards for his work on the second season of An Klondike. In 2018 he co-wrote and directed his first feature film, Finky. The film was funded by Screen Ireland and premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2019 where it won the award for Best Cinematography. Most recently, Dathaí has been working on the thriller series Smother. He directed the first series in 2020 and wrapped filming on the second season in June 2021. The second season is due to air in Spring 2022.
