Alan Friel

Alan Friel was born in Mayo, Ireland. He studied Fine Art Printmaking at Trent University and then film at Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design (now IADT) in Dublin. He has received multiple awards for his TV commercials and in 2015 his short film 'Sophie At The Races' won Best Screenplay at the Fastnet Film Festival and Best Actress at the European Independent Film festival. His 2017 short film 'Cake' starring Letitia Wright (Black Panther) and Maxine Peake (The Theory Of Everything) has so far won Best International Short at the Kinsale Shark Awards and Best Short Comedy at the London Independent Film Awards. Alan has directed televisions commercials, commercials, music promos and short films all over the world with fellow Irish director Billy O'Brien, working under the directing duo name Billy & Alan. Billy & Alan are developing a number of science fiction and fantasy feature films to write and direct together including a project with Bad Robot and Paramount.
