Mohinderjit Singh's illustrious musical journey spans over 50 years. He is known to discerning audiences and to Indian cinema enthusiasts as a singer, violinist and composer par excellence. He has trained in both vocal and instrumental Hindustani music under the tutelage of Pandit Husn Lal, Bhagat Ram and Pandit Vinay Chandra Maudgalya. He has also studied western music under Pandit Ram Prasad and Josic Menezas. Mohinderjit Singh excels in the soft and the mellifluous. His music is very distinctly his own. His vast repertoire is comprehensive and comprises of Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, Ghazal, Geet, Sufi Kaafi and Bhajans. He has composed music for renowned musicians and playback singers such as Mohammad Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, Suman Kalyanpur, Mahendra Kapoor, Jagjit Singh, Sulakshana Pandit, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Savita Sathe, Jaspal Singh, Nina and Rajendra Mehta, Minoo Purshottam, Sandhya Rao, Dilraj Kaur, Anuradha Paudwal, and Parveen Sultana. Mohinderjit Singh was honoured by the then prime minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who gave his composition 'Sadbhavana', National status on the special recommendation of eminent composer Naushad Ali. Mohinderjit Singh has created an exquisite instrument, the Naad Yogini, which has the pathos of the violin, the resonance of the cello and the soothing sound of the sarangi and the flute. Fretless and stringed, the bow instrument has four main strings and twelve subordinate strings. The strains of the Naad Yogini have a sublime transcendent effect that transports the listener into an ethereal realm.
