Jyllian Gunther is an Emmy-award winning writer, producer and director. She specializes in verité documentary and has a keen interest in exploring the stories of young people. She directed and produced 6 short documentaries for the first season of the series, "The New Yorker Presents," produced by JigSaw, Amazon, and The New Yorker magazine. Her feature film, "The New Public," is distributed by Kino Lorber and aired on PBS in 2013. It is available on Netflix, Amazon, ITunes, and more. Her previous critically-acclaimed documentary, "PullOut," was an official selection of numerous national and international film festivals. It is also available online. She won an Emmy for her work as director, writer and producer on the PBS educational PSA series, "One Way to Inspire." Also for PBS, she directed and produced a series of mini documentaries for the program "Design Squad," and directed multiple episodes of the Emmy award-winning series "Postcards from Buster." She served as reporter/co-producer for NPR's acclaimed "This American Life" program. (Episodes:"Kid Politics" & "Stuck In the Middle.") She was director and supervising producer for multiple episodes of the TLC Emmy award-winning series, "Who Do You Think You Are," featuring Alfre Woodard, Bill Paxton, Josh Groban and Lea Michele. She was story producer for Discovery ID's "A Crime To Remember" and post producer for TLC's "Four Houses." Other director/producer credits include MTV's "Made," The N's "Love High" (an original pilot), TCM/ITV's "Meet the IN-Laws", New York Times Television's "BodyWorks," and more. Jyllian began her career as a staff writer for Nickelodeon. Previously, she worked as a public and private school educator in film, art and creative writing. She runs the production company Wonderful6, Inc.
