Josip Vujcic was born on April 28th 1980. in Makarska, Croatia (then former Yugoslavia) to Vojna (Martinovic) and Zdenko Vujcic. In 1998 he graduated from high school in Makarska, Croatia. In 2012 he received a Master of Arts degree in Film and TV directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb, Croatia. Has a lifelong passion for journalism and has worked as a writer, columnist and editor for various Croatian online and print publications. In 2013 he co-founded 'Udruga Dokuma [hr]' (Dokuma Civic Association), whose goals are the promotion of cinematic art, creating educational and interactive content and the enrichment of local and regional cultural life, as well as the international documentary DokuMA Film Festival in Makarska, Croatia. In 2018 he published his first novel "Biste bez lica" (Faceless Effigies, V.B.Z. ); the novel is a satire about "the society of the spectacle" and the first Croatian novel about fake news. In 2019 he published his second novel "Balada iz predizborja" (Ballad Before Choice, V.B.Z.); the novel is a satire about a fictional Croatian presidential election, but carries a broader theme about the freedom of choice.
