Michelle Wong

Working in the film and television industry since the early 90s, Michelle has garnered decades of experience in a variety of film and television genres. Starting as a writer/director of short form documentary, Michelle began her formal training at the National Film Board of Canada working with the Oscar winning Studio D where she completed her first documentary Return Home, the first Chinese-Canadian to direct a film in the 50 year history of the NFB. Michelle is a seasoned producer with over 35 production credits across all formats. She has provided business affairs on theatrical features (El Chicano, Come True), made for television movies (Global Meltdown, Into The West), lifestyle series, live events, long form documentary (Legend of a Warrior) and one- hour scripted drama. She has working knowledge of the Canadian funding system (public and private sources) and has accessed various provincial and federal tax credits. Michelle currently serves as the Head of Business Affairs at Seven24 Films located in Calgary, Alberta Canada, producers of Heartland, Wynonna Earp, Jann, Family Law and other multi-million-dollar productions. Michelle currently sits on the board of the Alberta Motion Pictures Industries Association as Chair of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and Co-chair of the Professional Development Committee. She is also a founding member of Creative Empowered, a collective of artists + creatives who are Black, Indigenous and People of Colour, empowering each other as an allied community based in Western Canada.
