Robert Cibis is a director, producer and distributor of documentary and theatrical films. He founded OVALmedia Group which has branches in Paris, Rome, Cologne and Berlin. Along with Lilian Franck, he directed the award-winning fly-on-the wall feature length documentary "Pianomania". He was a co-recipient of the Ekotopfilm 2007 prize for a two-part documentary called "Disgustingly Healthy", an exposé on the use of leeches and maggots in Western medicine. Cibis often works on projects of a scientific nature, concerning medicine and the health system. Such films include Preying on Patients (2009), Spitzenmedizin (2020) and Disgustingly Healthy (2007). He also wrote and produced the 2018 feature film trustWHO, a report on the influence that privatized industry has on the World Health Organisation. In 2019, he was nominated for the German Documentary Film Prize, and his feature film Fuck Fame was judged to be of outstanding quality, receiving a rating of 'worthwhile'. Robert studied European Film Production in the Masterclass of the German-French Film Academy at the Femis in Paris, and at the Film Academy in Baden-Württemberg. He previously studied the Art and Science of Film in Rome and also received a Master's degree at the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris.
