Singer and entertainer Johnny Charro was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. Charro was inspired to become a singer after he saw Elvis Presley performing live at age twelve at an armory in Tampa. Johnny began singing professionally as part of a duo in 1973. Charro's act was filmed by the TV station WLCY-TV in May, 1977 in the club the Pit and Cart in Lakeland, Florida with the possibility of being broadcast by an affiliate TV station in St. Petersburg. Johnny and his band The Johnny Charro Revue appeared at the Hawaiian Inn's Aloha Lounge with an Elvis tribute show in October and November of 1978. Moreover, Charro did a two week engagement at the Coach Paddock Supper Club Lounge in April, 1979. In addition, Johnny appeared as himself in the low-budget exploitation film Another Son of Sam (1977). Charro was stilling performing live at the American Legion Arlington Road Lounge in Tampa, Florida in May, 2015.
