Maria Augusta Ramos was born in Brasília, DF. Brazil in 1964. Graduated in Music at UNB University (Brazil), she moved to Paris, where she completed her studies in Musicology and Electroacoustic Music at the Groupe de Recherche Musicale (Radio France) and later in London (City University). In 1990, she moved to Holland, where she studied film direction and editing at the The Netherlands Film and Television Academy. She directed a number of shorts, including "Eu Acho que o que Eu Quero Dizer é..." (1993); "Boy e Aleid (1994); "Two Times at Home" (1996); "The Secret of the Vibrato" (1998); "Rio Um Dia em Agosto" (2002); a series of 6 short films for Dutch TV "Butterflies in Your Stomach" (1998); and the feature films "Brasília, Um Dia em Fevereiro" (1995, Jury Award at the Rio Documentary Festival É Tudo Verdade); "Desi" (2000, top winner of Holland's most important documentary Festival); "justiça" (2004, winner of 9 international awards) and "Juízo" (2008), the last two about Brazilian judiciary system.
