Born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Enjoyed watching "The Joy of Painting" with artist Bob Ross and "The Secret City Adventures" and "The Imagination Initiate" with 3D artist Mark Kistler. Kistler's line, "Draw, Draw, Draw" and "Dream it, Draw it, Do it" imprinted a message about work ethic throughout his life. Enjoyed pencil drawing until around age 12 until his father got him his first job. Wrote his first short story, "Lost Atlantis", at age 13. He began to take art courses again when they became available in Junior High School. Was awarded Best Artist at age 14. After high school, he began studies in Oakland Community College in Robotics Engineering, fitting for the automotive driven industry. During a humanities class, Film Studies, a professor pointed out his keen eye for observation, detail, and storytelling for film and suggested considering a career in film and television. Attended the University of Michigan-Flint, studied Mass Communications with a Minor in Philosophy/Psychology. Had chosen the Flint, Michigan campus over Ann Arbor to have the opportunity to work at the University affiliated PBS TV Station. Attended Chapman University in Southern California, earning his MFA in Film Production with an emphasis in all areas (Cinematography, Screenwriting, Producing, Directing, and Editing). Awarded a Panavision grant for full package to shoot his thesis film.
