Thomas Couzinier

Multi-instrumentalist Thomas Couzinier grew under the influence of instrumental rock and atypical music such as Bernard Parmegiani, Link Wray and Angelo Badalamenti's works, in particular. After making a name for himself in the electronica scene in 2000, thanks to Battery Operated, a duo formed with Toby Heys, Thomas launched the electronic art label C0C0S0L1DC1T1 with a multimedia collective programmed by a number of festivals (Les Nuits Sonores, Elektra in Montreal, Sonar ...). In 2001, he founded - with his brother Grégoire - their company, Kouz, to develop his sound work for the moving image, in which he infuses both his technical know-how and his electro-acoustic culture. Thomas have been also working hand in hand with friend and composer Kooshmanian for the last 10 years. Their dynamic remains the same, in a complementary process where their brains compose as a tight ensemble. Within that process, Kooshmanian's talent is reflected particularly through the harmonies and arrangements, while that of Couzinier reveals itself through the strength of his instrumentations and textures.
