Giannis Smyrnaios was born on October 17, 1940 in Athens, Greece. Much loved by his family, friends and fellow actors for his kindness, generosity and humor as a true gentleman of impeccable manners, after he studied acting with teachers such as the great director Dimitris Rontiris, he played on stage and screen, known for his consistency, finesse and versatility in charming performances of a considerable range of roles. His fine interpretations on both drama and comedy are included in successful film and TV works such as In the Name of the Law (1970), I Love You (1971), The Optimist (1973), Ekeines... ki ego (1976), Madam Sousou (1986) and Mi mou gyrnas tin plati (1986). He died in March 2019 in Athens.
