John Murphy was born in San Diego, California, but considers Nebraska his home. He attended the University of Nebraska majoring in Broadcasting Journalism. He was offered a drive-time radio show in Omaha during his Junior year in college and went on to host successful morning radio shows in Seattle, Washington D.C., Portland, San Diego and Los Angeles. He entered the TV production business at New Wave Entertainment in Los Angeles as a producer of theatrical marketing and DVD content. He later produced and directed original documentary content (including Native 3D) for HBO, A+E, Discovery, SyFy and Starz. He writes and produces the CBS Daytime Series, "Henry Ford's Innovation Nation" and has won two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Special Class Series (producer) and Outstanding Writing for Special Class Series. John is married to marketing consultant Dana Jones, and the couple have two daughters, Taylor and Cameron. They live in Pasadena, California.
