Richard Newman embarked on a two years college (UVSC) adventure in which he designed posters for the plays, assisted in the design of theatrical sets, and was studying computer graphic art design! Once the college experience became frustrating, he decided to drop out, which was about the same time as the deaths of comedian Chris Farley and Phil Hartman. In the aftermath of these saddening events, Mr. Newman was inspired to pursue stand-up comedy. After studying the subject for only 3 months, he decided to go to an open mic night at Johnny B's in Provo, UT. His first time up was expected to be horrible but turned out not so bad after all. Through the next 5 years of stand-up, Richard gained a large group of friends in the entertainment industry, one of which turned out to be Ryan Williams, Director of Abby Singer. After talking, Mr. Newman was appointed Associate Producer to the project. Also, during this time, he was working on completing a script about Iconic Rock Star Wesley Willis, to be entitled, The Wesley Willis Story. Mr. Newman became involved as an Associate Producer on The Snipe Hunters, a project that is currently in pre-production, helping to develop a horror project entitled, Faces in the Hall while continuing to write various projects.
