Eric Blazak Personal Bio Eric grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York where the outdoors played a prominent part in his life. The lake in the summer and the mountain in the winter were his stomping grounds. He attended SUNY Oneonta and graduated in 1994 with a degree in Speech Communications with a focus on Television. Upon graduating, Eric started his career in Entertainment as an Intern at MTV. It wasn't long before he worked his way up through the ranks, becoming a producer, director, editor and writer for the channel while creating documentary news specials dealing with issues like drugs, sex, and social anxiety for MTV News and Specials. He also worked for MTV On-Air Promos where he created short format television advertising for consumer products, show promotions and sales/marketing tapes for concepts. Eric then helped found MTV Home Entertainment which was a consumer products division specializing in direct to Home Video Releases, Books and other merchandise. Eric worked with Sony Music Video as a partner, and his staff to develop and market the brand resulting in multi-platinum video releases in the first year, including the Road Rules Travel guide, the Real World, The Rodman World Tour, MTV Sports (Longer, Harder, Faster), The Jerky Boys, Singled Out, the Grind workout and many other original productions. Eric stayed with MTV Home Entertainment for another two years before heading to the Discovery Channel where he post-produced and edited the award winning series, Outward Bound, a reality show following groups of campers through the Outward Bound Programs in Texas and North Carolina. He left the Discovery Channel to supervise a large staff for Oxygen on a live daily two hour show called Trackers followed by Oxygen's first original prime-time series, Freeride which he produced, directed and edited . The series focused on women in extreme sports such as snowboarding, hang-gliding, rafting, surfing, caving, and every other adrenaline junkie activity he could find. He also worked in the marketing of the show and created all of the advertising and branding partnerships. After Oxygen, Eric started Blazak Entertainment and continued making television and film, from pre through post, for nearly every cable channel in NYC. He also helped to create an award winning documentary Magic Man, about the boxer, Paulie Malinaggi, taking the Viewers' Choice award and best documentary at the Hoboken Film Festival. In 2000, Eric was married to Bree Mathers. A year after the birth of their first child, Spinnaker in 2002, Eric, who was traveling on shoots for half the year, enrolled at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in order to spend more time with his family. He earned his J.D. in two and a half years. Immediately following Law School, Eric started an on-line law business called MyWillPros.com, he also began working again on TV and film, post-producing and editing some of the series Scarred for MTV , co- writing and post-supervising the feature film, Cougar Hunting for Aspen Entertainment and creating several marketing videos for companies like Sunsail Yachts, Ansai sportswear and D4 Discovery. While in Law School Eric wrote the screenplay, MudJumper; a dramatic feature film.
