For Andros Sturgeon, Science Fiction is in his DNA. His earliest memory was a party thrown by his father, the famed author Theodore Sturgeon for Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. In attendance were some of the original cast as well as other Science Fiction luminaries. Andros, who was no more than five years old at the time, had to be told several times to stop pestering poor Mr. Nimoy because he wanted to know the secret behind the Vulcan Neck Pinch. While other kids would play "Land of the Lost" on the school yard, Andros's parents were writing the show. In the 90s, Andros worked various jobs in the entertainment industry, doing everything from script coverage for Oliver Stone, to grip work for Roger Corman. He finally landed a job doing market research for NRG/VNU, learning about the true inner workings of Hollywood. But what Andros really wanted to do was to write screenplays and eventually create his own television series. Although he entered and placed in many screenplay competitions, and subsequently got quite a few meetings, Andros knew that he would have to either compromise his ideas or himself to succeed. Eventually Andros realized that Hollywood was no place to get quality entertainment made, so he decided to move to the Pacific North West and turn some of his ideas into novels in hopes of adapting them later into films. Once in Oregon, he got a job at Angelvision Technologies, an Internet marketing firm. Here he wrote infomercials for the Internet and quickly learned about the power of viral marketing, open source software and the true potential of Web 2.0. With this, Andros began work on his current endeavor, "Project 912". "Project 912" will be the world's first open source series. The idea was simple: Start with a 30 page series bible, have people create content that will become part of the overall mythology. A show for fans, by fans. Within a few weeks of finishing the bible, Andros had 40 people working with him on various stages of the project and several teams of film makers contributing content. Over 10 websites are developed, a social networking site, and content is being filmed. A graphic novel and a game are all in development. A worldwide contest and film festival is in the works. The project was forced to go live when conservative talk show host Glenn Beck started his own web endeavor "The 912 Project" and Andros's site was bombarded by Becks followers wanting to join the human resistance.
