Terri Poahway is a proud enrolled member of the Kiowa tribe of Oklahoma. She is currently a sophomore at Cameron University (Lawton, Oklahoma) and is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications with double minors in Theatre and Health and Physical education. Her future aspirations are to achieve her PhD. in communications and become a speech professor. Her film debut was in an independent film, shot in Norman Oklahoma in 2002, which is entitled, American Indian Graffiti: This Thing Life (2003). Attending her very first acting audition, Terri achieved one of the 4 leading roles of this film: she portrayed the character "Stephanie". The film was entered in the Bare Bones Film Festival and achieved numerous awards including "Best Family Film". The film has been screened all over Oklahoma and all across the nation and has received raving reviews and plenty of positive press coverage. A few of Terri's other accomplishments include the following: Jr. Miss Indian Oklahoma 1997, Miss Lawton 2001 (preliminary to the Miss America competition) where she was awarded Miss Photogenic and allowed to compete for Miss Oklahoma, where she received a talent scholarship. Terri was also President of the Cameron American Indian Students Association (CAISA) in the fall of 2003 and still maintains her membership today. Currently, Terri is a member of the Beta Sigma Phi National sorority and she is a Cameron University Cheerleader. Acting is something Terri sort of fell in to, but she has been credited as being a "natural" and enjoys acting very much, especially improvisation. She has aspirations of furthering her acting career and portraying her native people in a positive image.
