Lloyd was born on January 3, 1986 in New Orleans, LA. He, his mother, and his older sister moved to Atlanta, GA when he was 2, following the murder of his father. Lloyd's music career kicked off with the group N-Toon (which also included his younger brother Chuckie). The group disbanded when he was 14, after about 4 years, but Lloyd continued to make music on his own. In 2004, he released his debut single and album, "Southside," under Murder Inc. Records. The single featured label-mate and singer-songwriter Ashanti. Lloyd followed with 2007's, "Street Love," which featured mega-hit single, "You," with rapper Lil' Wayne. The song peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart and #9 on their Hot 100 chart; it is still one of the most played and requested songs from his catalog. After releasing his third album and fourth albums, "Lessons in Love" (2008) and "King of Hearts" (2011), Lloyd took some time away from music to focus on family and school. He reemerged in 2016 with "Tru," an intimate bluesy record that revealed a lot of the artists' thoughts, feelings, and struggles. The single appeared on an EP and LP of the same name, released in 2016 and 2018, respectively. In 2019, Lloyd joined an all-star lineup of artists for The Millennium Tour, which made its way around the US from March-May 2019. He also appeared in TV One's season three premiere of "Unsung," and made his film debut in the network's original biopic, "The Bobby Debarge Story."
