Gaayatri Kaundinya

GAAYATRI is a Singer, Composer, and Artist. As a Hindustani singer, she hails from the Rampur Maihar-Senia Gharana, having trained under the late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. She began her vocal training from him in the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara at the age of 4, and studied with him until his passing at the age of 18. Her repertoire consists of Dhrupad, Khyaal, Tarana, Light Classical, and Regional Folk pieces rendered in the unique Maihar vocal style. Living in America and coming from this unique heritage, she wanted to be a part of the American music industry without compromising her roots. Eventually, she found a niche as a specialist for Indian influenced music for media and commercial music. She got her start in commercial music working as a studio assistant for AR Rahman. She has since worked with A-list talent in film and commercial music, and now alongside Hindustani content, creates authentic Indian influenced scores, and writes songs in Telugu, Hindi, and English.
