Originally from Switzerland, Yves Hofer was trained as an architect, receiving his Master of Architecture degree from the Graduate School of Architecture at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. He then moved to the States studying film at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where he earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Directing. He is a recipient of Tisch School of the Arts' prestigious Bernie Brillstein Scholarship, studied directing with Peter Bogdanovich, Boris Frumin, Spike Lee and Suzanne Shepherd and has apprenticed with Spike Lee on several of his projects.
