Michael Gay

Michael Velar(Vuh 'Lahr) was born Michael Chadwick Gay on June 11, 1972 to Debra Elene and James Richard Gay of Livingston, Texas. The oldest of 5 children, he has 2 brothers, Brad and Ryan, and 2 sisters, Jessica and Leslie. Though only he and Brad share the same mother. Growing up he was known to his family and friends as Chad until the age of 20 when he started going by his first name, Mike. In 2001, three months before his first daughter Luna was born (07/23/01), Michael changed his last name from Gay to Velar, in the hopes that his children wouldn't suffer other children's ridicule, humiliation, and torment. On may 4, 2011 his daughter Julianna Blair Velar was born/ Michael boasts of his love for actress Lara Craddock, (the Sandwich 2011) and claims, "She is the love of my life!" Today, he is a Professional Whitewater Rafting Guide and Safety Kayaker in Taos, NM. During the Winter he's a PSIA Certified Ski Instructor at Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort. He also teaches Ski Biking as well. He holds the following certifications - EMT Basic, Whitewater Kayaking Instructor, Rescue Diver, Enriched Air Diver, and Swift-water Rescue. As an Extreme Kayaker and Scuba Diver Mike has traveled to some our country's most remote and breath-taking destinations.
