The Flamingos was a "Doo Wop" group formed in the early 1950s and that had early success on Chess Records, hitting the R&B charts with "A Kiss From Your Lips", "I'll Be Home", "The Vow" and "Would I Be Crying". They left Chess and signed with End Records in 1958. Almost immediately the group had their first pop chart hit with "Lovers Never Say Goodbye", considered a "Doo Wop" classic today. It was written by Terry Johnson, who shared lead chores on the song with Paul Wilson. In 1959 the group would have its biggest hit with what would become their signature song, "I Only Have Eyes For You" (written by Harry Warren and Al Dubin for Dames (1934)). A long series of hits followed, including "Mio Amore", "Love Walked In", "Time Was", "Your Other Love", "Nobody Loves Me Like You" (written by Sam Cooke) and "I Was Such a Fool". The group has had a large number of personnel changes over the years, but still tours and appears in "doo-wop" revival shows and TV specials.
