Born July 5, 1950, in San Francisco, California, USA, to Spaniards Francisco Mur Mendiara of Anso, Huesca, and Maria Iraola Moulian of Zarauz and San Sebastian, Guipuzcoa. Graduate, American High School of Barcelona, June 1968 (thereby concluding a twelve-month Spanish sojourn), and University of Oregon, June 1972. Editor and translator (Spanish to English), "A[lexander] Alekhine: Agony of a Chess Genius" by Pablo Moran (1926-95), "Certainement la biographie la plus complete qui existe!" - Le Courrier des Echecs - of the World Champion's last years (1940-46) in Nazi Europe, Spain and Portugal (McFarland & Company, 1989).
