Big Moe was born and raised on the Southside of Houston, Texas. He grew up in the notorious neighboorhood known as third ward (or the tre). He is known for switching up his style with singing and rapping. In the mid 90s he hooked up with the legendary DJ Screw and became a member of his group the Screwed Up Click. In early 2000, he joined the Texas based rap label, Wreckshop Records, and released his debut album, City of Syrup. The album sold over 200,000 copies as an independent. After talking with many major labels, he decided to sign with Priority Records who were known for artists like Snoop Dogg and Lil' Zane. He release his first major album, Purple World, which was fueled by the lead single, Purple Stuff. The album failed to be a cross-over hit and Big Moe decided to return to his underground roots. He release his 3rd LP, Moe Life, in October 2003, which featured the smash hit 'Just A Dog' which was a club smash throughout the South and put Big Moe back in the limelight.
