Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Alex began his acting career at the age of 13 as part of the repertory company on the Gemini Award winning children's series Incredible Story Studio. Since relocating to Calgary in 2005, he has trained at Company of Rogues Actor's Studio with Joe-Norman Shaw and Christianne Hirt and has worked with the Rogues repertory company, with roles in Julia Jordan's St. Scarlet (2007) and Cowtown (2008). While training and working with Rogues, Alex continued to gain experience with other theatre companies and on set, winning roles on the Gemini Award winning series, Renegade press.com; CBC's Heartland and Paul Gross's Genie Award winning World War I drama, Passchendaele, in 2007. In the spring of 2008 he acted alongside two-time Governor General Award winning playwright, Sharon Pollack and local Calgary theatre icon, Stephen Hair in the Downstage Performance Society's production of Judith Thompson's Habitat. Alexander was also the recipient of Theatre Calgary's Stephen Hair Emerging Actor Award that year. In 2009, Alex worked under the direction of Kevin McKendrick on Ground Zero Theatre's production of The Lieutenant of Inishmore by Martin McDonagh. Alex also co-founded his own small theatre company, the Newborn Theatre Collective, in Calgary, AB. He co-produced and performed in their inaugural production of Neena Beber's, Jump-Cut, under the direction of Sage Theatre's Artistic Director, Kelly Reay. He now calls Vancouver, B.C. his home and he can be seen in the television series Caprica (Syfy), Supernatural (CW) & Fairly Legal (USA Network). You can also catch him in the indie horror hit, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. He is studying at the East End Actor's Studio with Lori Triolo in Vancouver, BC.
