Brian Lally is an Irish writer, director and producer from Dublin. His debut feature was the award-winning and controversial Irish drama "8.5 Hours" which was released in Irish cinemas in 2010 and released in North America in 2011. His first produced script was the critically acclaimed 40 minute psychological drama "Boys and Men" which was made in 1996. He has written over a dozen screenplays, many of which have been optioned. His first feature length documentary: "The Curious Works of Roger Doyle" which he had filmed over many years, premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in July 2018. It has subsequently been screened at the IFI Documentary Festival in Dublin, the Cork Film Festival, the Dingle Film Festival in 2019 and the Docs Ireland Festival 2019 in Belfast. The film was part-funded by Screen Ireland. This film was released in Irish cinemas in October 2019 and was critically acclaimed, with the RTE website giving it a 5 star review and calling it "moving and brilliant". It premiered in North America in November 2019 at the Yonkers Film Festival (YoFiFest) in New York. Brian is particularly interested in writing and directing psychological thrillers, horror, action films and science fiction and has several feature films in development, set both in Ireland and the USA. He also has several new feature documentaries in development. Brian runs his own production company - Instigator Films, which has produced over 300 corporate productions in Ireland.
