Michael Ney

Michael Ney (director, editor, cameraman, producer) started as a stage manager, lighting designer and director's assistant in the theatre in Sydney, Australia and after several years he moved into television production at TEN. Starting in 1982, Michael ran his own commercial photography and audio-visual production company called "Midnite Stills" where he was commissioned by magazines such as Sonics and Rolling Stone for photographic coverage of concerts and promotional material. Highlights were The Angels, Men at Work, Cold Chisel and many others. As computers were arising he gathered a team called "Virtual Realm Xchange" in 1991 to explore virtual reality and interactive multimedia. Major projects were completed for The University of Sydney - including documentary videos and interactive CD-ROMs with accompanying websites for various faculties. Finally, Michael settled down to his first love - filmmaking. His previous company, Sensory Image (2001-2010), produced various projects such as "Baba's Birthday", in conjunction with writer/director, Peter Sumner - as well as directing and co-producing another documentary called "Peace Angels - First Steps" with co-producer Tim Maddocks (Maddfilms). Michael has also worked on many film and television projects creating the "making-of" or behind the scenes video documentaries such as the feature film Alex & Eve directed by Peter Andrikidis (Murray Fahey) 2016. Previously he also did behind the scenes videography such as in 2006 Dark Love Story (Gregory Read), 2009 East West 101 Series 2 (Knapman Wyld Television), and 2010 the short Ghosts of War (Enzo Tedeschi). Michael Ney, now under the banner of Eagle Spirit Media, is providing video and digital media production and consultancy services. He has also created an online community called Eco Village Voice which publishes a magazine along with podcasts, webinars and videos promoting the rise of ecovillages around the world.
