Michael Murphy is an Emmy winning independent producer/director/writer who creates programming for television, web/streaming series and live events. He is a highly respected professional with a track record of producing high quality long and short form programming having worked with many major media & entertainment companies including Amazon, AT&T, MSFT, Netflix, Sony Pictures, Turner TV, Universal Music Group, PBS, NHK, and ZDF. Michael was a founding member of the House Of Blues chain of entertainment and restaurant venues. He served as President of House of Blues Productions, creating, and overseeing the 26 part "Live From House of Blues" television series. Recent feature length documentaries include "Irma: My Life In Music", a biographical film on the life and the career of New Orleans' legendary vocalist, Irma Thomas. "Up From The Streets- New Orleans: The City of Music" was a 4-time nominee in the Best Feature Documentary Film category and winning a Juried Gold Award at the Houston World Fest Film Festival and an Excellence in Filmmaking Award at the International Indie Film Festival. Born in New Orleans, he has spent decades conducting interviews and capturing performances of musicians. His career includes creating live and post produced programming from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for over 2 decades. Serving as a Senior Manager/Video Production for Microsoft, he supervised the production of over 1000 hours of short form web programming for the MSN portal, including branded multi-episodic series, across the food, financial, lifestyle, and music genres.
