Luciano Melchionna

Graduate in acting at the Drama National Academy "Silvio d'Amico" - Rome, in 1989. He works, among others, with Lorenzo Salveti, Angelo Corti, Francesco Randazzo, Alessando Fabrizi, Giampiero Cicciò, Roberto Guicciardini and Luca Ronconi. In the meantime he alternates acting activity with direction and writing. His first play, "Rimozione Forzata", was mentioned for the IDI Prize and performed by Lorenzo Salveti. He wrote and directed "Non camminare scalza" and "Gas". The first one won the audience prize as best text in the festival "Corti Teatrali '97" at Vittoria Theatre, Rome. The play "Gas" won at the 1998 festival, the audience prize for best direction and the prize "Giovani Protagonisti" at the Premio Riviera d'Ulisse linked to the Festival del Teatro Italiano. In collaboration with Alexandra La Capria, Gas became a screenplay, and Melchionna directed his first film, produced by Blu Cimatografica G.F. Following this he wrote the play "Lune a metà", which received a nomination at the "Fondi La Pastora '98" prize and he wrote and directed "Pausa" - which won the "Spettacolo 2000" prize in the "Premio Riviera d'Ulisse". In the theatre, he direced, among others, "Caldo come il ghiaccio" and "Ce n'è x tutti" written by Luca De Bei, "L'equilibrio" by Botho Strauss, "Falso doppio" by Lewis Theobald, "Sottovuoto" by Sabrina Scuccimarra, "Valoroso amore" by Luigi Ferraro, "La vita è gioco" by Alberto Moravia, "Un ragionevole dubbio" from "12 angry men" by S. Lumet, "Senzatesta" by Alexandra La Capria, "Nihil" by Gian Maria Cervo, "Sterminio" by Werner Schwab, "In casa con Claude" by Renè-Daniel Dubois, "Mommyland" by Luciana Grifi, "Variazioni di morte" by Jon Fosse, "La disfatta" and "Cielo tagliato" by Gianni Guardagli. He worked as assistant director for the TV movie "Il Papa Buono" by Ricky Tognazzi. He teaches acting to the "Arts School" directed by Pino Quartullo and he is Art Director for the Positano short film festival "Lo sbarco dei corti".
