Scott Thigpen is a Producer and Director, as well as the Chief Operating Officer for Crazy Legs Productions. After a start in sports programming in 1990, Thigpen shifted his focus to documentary work and social issues, becoming a producer for CARE, one of the world's leading non-governmental organizations in 1993. During that period, he also developed projects for the International Trachoma Initiative, the Captain Planet Foundation, and other NGOs. In 1999, Thigpen co-produced and edited the Emmy Award-winning Holocaust documentary, "Burning Questions." In 2004, he wrote, produced, and directed the television documentary, "The Last Child," distributed worldwide by PBS International. Thigpen then produced the documentary feature, "A Powerful Noise," which premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival. A year later, he spearheaded the ground-breaking International Women's Day event, "A Powerful Noise LIVE." Simulcast to 450 theaters nationwide, the event featured the film and a live post-screening discussion with Ann Curry, Madeleine Albright, Natalie Portman, Christy Turlington Burns, Nicholas Kristof, and others. In 2010, he co-wrote and produced "Half the Sky," an inspirational one-night event based on the NY Times best-selling book by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. "Half the Sky" was simulcast in over 500 theaters throughout North America and featured performances by Marisa Tomei, Maria Bello, India Arie, Angelique Kidjo, and the Duchess of York. After many years as Director of Media Production & Advertising, Thigpen left CARE in 2011 to join Crazy Legs Productions. Since then, he has contributed to Crazy Legs' explosive growth while also directing episodes of its series "Hidden City" and "Faked Out" for Travel Channel, and "Swamp Murders," "Bloodlands," and "Your Worst Nightmare" for Investigation Discovery. In 2019, along with partner Tom Cappello, Thigpen formed Crazy Legs Features, an Atlanta-based development & distribution company for independent films. The first feature, "Front Row Killer," is being released in 2020. Thigpen was a founding member of the Atlanta chapter of the Producer's Guild of America, where he served as Chair.
