Daniel G. Chipman

Ever since Daniel was young he has had a great passion for film an cinema. At 13 he received his first camera for Christmas and began shooting short films with his brothers and friends in the neighborhood. At 16 he started his first business, RAD Productions, an endeavor that taught him a great deal about business, relationships, and media production. At the time he also produced work on the schools news channel as well as worked on a local feature film as a production assistant. Telling the school he had mono to get the days excused. During his senior year Daniel duel-enrolled, attending both high school classes and college courses full-time, pursuing Motion Picture Production at Lansing Community College. At graduation it became clear Daniel had a serious choice to make. Pay-to-learn on out-of-date equipment, or get paid to learn on state-of-the-art equipment and become an employee at a Michigan based production company. Deciding the latter gave him the ability to truly learn hands-on the ins and outs of the business and at a place he would have sought to intern at had he chosen school. Throughout his time there Daniel developed a very strong business sense and honed his creative design, cinematography, and editing skills, even developing a manual that explained the process of editing from importing to encoding. After 5 years with the company, Daniel began freelancing and made the first steps towards developing his own company, Black Jacket Films. Black Jacket Films specializes in corporate, event, and independent video production. With a strong foothold in commercials and music videos. Daniel, Now 30, has been pushing Black Jacket Films to make greater strides in the independent film world. Slating several films over the next couple years, of which he plans to Shoot, Direct, and Edit himself. "Black Jacket Films is something that I hold very close to me. Im a very passionate person, artistic, analytic and a realist. I love what I do and feel very fortunate to be able to live what some may call "the dream." I live and breathe film, media and design, it's not a job or something I do, but it's a part of me and who I am."
