Katie is an actress born on 12th October 1982 in Bermondsey, London UK. Her parents are Jacqueline and Peter Ray and she has one sibling Samuel Ray. At the age of 10 Katie showed a gift for music and was awarded a place at the Centre for Young Musicians, Morley College, in Lambeth London. She began with the recorder and moved on to the Alto Saxophone, eventually attaining her Grade 8. Through the 8 years experience at Morley College, Katie found a love for singing and realised she would like to pursue a career in theatre. After auditioning and receiving a place at The BRIT School in Croydon, London, Katie spent two years acting, singing and dancing. She graduated from the BRIT school in 2001 and did a year course at London School of Musical Theatre, before she landed her first job as the Narrator in 'Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat' at the New London Theatre, in London's West End, at the age of 22. Katie continued to work in the West End and on International Tours all through her 20's playing lead roles in productions such as 'The Sound of Music', 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', 'Million Dollar Quartet', 'Zorro', 'Can't Smile Without You', etc. Also screen work in the short films Sheepdog, Macbeth, The Cabin etc. As well as recording various concept albums and musical voiceover. In 2010 Katie went to the Heythrop College, University of London to study for a BA in Philosophy, Religion and Ethics. She was awarded an honours degree in 2013 upon graduation. Katie saw this as just another tool for her acting career, so after this stint of study she jumped straight back into acting on screen. In 2018 alone Katie filmed a whopping 9 movies in total - features and shorts. Katie lives in Covent Garden with her partner John Pickard (Two Point Four Children, Hollyoaks) and their daughter Ivy Ray-Pickard (born January 2019).
