Explorer - Josh Bernstein has traveled more than 1,000,000 miles by train, plane, bus, bike, and camel to over 70 countries in pursuit of knowledge and discovery. A fellow of both The Explorers Club and the Royal Geographical Society, Josh has traced the Ark of the Covenant from the caverns of Jerusalem to the mountains of Ethiopia, communed with tribal chiefs in the darkest jungles of the Amazon Rainforest, and has hunted with alleged cannibals by moonlight in the forests of Papua New Guinea. He has ventured deep underground with NASA scientists to explore the origins of life on Earth and helped recover the Apollo F-1 engines off the floor of the Atlantic Ocean-all on a quest to shed light on some of the most fascinating mysteries on our planet. Educator - For 25 years, Josh was a wilderness guide with BOSS, the Boulder Outdoor Survival School, the oldest and largest survival school in the country. Josh first attended BOSS as a student in 1988 and rose through the ranks from apprentice to instructor to marketing director to president & CEO of the company. In December 2013, after 17 years at the helm, Josh sold BOSS to found Explorer At Large (XAL). Explorer At Large's mission is to engage, inspire, and educate PreK-12 students around the world with standards-driven content that sparks curiosity, playfulness, and wonder. XAL is now in its second year implementing educational content in school systems in Ohio to help create a generation of courageous, curious, and compassionate leaders. Storyteller - Audiences in over 220 countries and territories around the world know Josh from his roles hosting series for the History, Discovery, Smithsonian, and National Geographic. Josh has taken viewers on amazing journeys in over 50 hours of prime-time, award-winning documentaries. Today, Josh's production company, Chanupa Media, is committed to producing authentic content that engages, educates, and enlightens. When not filming for television networks, Explorer At Large, or Chanupa Media, Josh loves to speak about his adventures and the importance of courage and curiosity in keynote addresses for both adults and students.
