M. Scott Martin

M. Scott Martin is a seasoned, hands-on television show-runner, director and writer of documentary, reality, challenge, clip, and make-over shows and movie-of-the-week formats who has produced on nearly every continent and under some of the most challenging conditions. His series Samantha Brown's China brought the network its highest ratings in five years for the time-slot. Martin executive produced, directed, and wrote the highly rated Need for Speed as the premiere episode for National Geographic's series, Dangerous Jobs. This fast-paced, in-depth racing documentary was shot on the country's biggest tracks and in the fastest cars, catching drivers risking death in dramatic crashes. Another highly acclaimed series Martin created and executive produced is Daddy's Little Girl. The series received a Hugo award, along with his special Holiday Home Invasion, a make-over special that turned an everyday house into a Christmas fantasy land. Martin brought back Bo Derek for his retro fashion flashback anthology I Can't Believe I Wore That! In dramatic television, Mr. Martin produced Why My Daughter, an NBC M.O.W. that was the second highest rated of the season. Lighting up national politics, Martin executive produced the first presidential debate ever held on the environment, bringing the issues to a whole new level in presidential campaigns. Using his science background, Martin co-produced the documentary for PBS Dangerous Friends and Friendly Enemies which follows the world's second most deadly virus around the world. The series is still being sold in schools across the country, as is the Spanish language series Buen Viaje which he directed for Glencoe/McGraw-Hill. Martin is one of the originators of the series Encounters for Fox Television Studios as coordinating producer. Other credits include Entertainment Tonight International (syndicated), Montel Williams (syndicated), Name Your Adventure (NBC), Famous Families (Fox Family) and more. His most recent film as producer can be seen at The New Getty Museum of Art's Visitors' Theater. Martin is a member of the Directors Guild of America and a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
