Noboru Terada

Champion freestyle swimmer Noboru Terada was born on November 25, 1917 in Shizuoka, Japan. Terada won the gold medal in the men's 1,500 meters freestyle at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany; he beat American champion swimmer Jack Medica by a mere ten seconds in this particular event. Noboru died at age 68 on September 26, 1986. He was posthumously inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1994.
