Michael Hsu Rosen was born and raised in New York City. He attended the Ethical Culture Fieldston School and the Professional Children's School. While enrolled at PCS, Rosen performed with the New York City Ballet and made his Broadway debut at age seventeen. Following a gap year, Rosen matriculated at Yale University. After five semesters of enrollment, Rosen withdrew from college to continue acting professionally.
